Description

High-pressure applications at remote job sites, field service locations, and installations without a reliable shop air or electrical supply at the reel need a 5,000 PSI capable reel that retracts under operator control without any external power source and makes that retraction manageable by hand on a full 100-foot drum. The Coxreels HP1125-4-100-C adds a front bevel geared crank (a mechanism using angled gears to redirect the operator's cranking force into drum rotation, reducing the effort required to wind back 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose compared to a direct shaft crank with no gearing) to the HP1125 Series high-pressure frame, giving field operators controlled manual retraction at up to 5,000 PSI working pressure with no air supply, electrical connection, or hydraulic circuit required at the reel. The electroless nickel plated steel 90° NPT swivel hardened over the brass swivel used on standard 1125 Series models pairs with AFLAS seals for the chemical and heat resistance that high-pressure petroleum, hydraulic, and chemical service demands. A removable crank handle keeps the reel profile clear when hose is deployed, and the long-handled locking pin secures the drum solid during transport, storage, or any fixed-extension use. The all-welded 12-gauge steel A-frame, CNC-spun ribbed discs, and permanently lubricated pillow block bearings complete the construction for the high-pressure field environments this reel operates in.

Type: Bevel Geared Crank Hose Reel | Series: HP1125 | Crank Type: Front Bevel Geared, Removable Handle | Hose I.D. (in.): 1/2 | Hose O.D. (in.): 7/8 | Hose Length (ft.): 100 | Hose Included: No | Max PSI: 5,000 | Swivel: Electroless Nickel Plated Steel 90° NPT | Swivel Seals: AFLAS

Features

  • Front bevel geared crank with removable smooth round handle angled gear mechanism reduces the effort required to wind back 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose by hand compared to a direct shaft crank; no external power source required
  • Removable crank handle keeps the reel profile unobstructed during hose deployment and prevents accidental drum engagement during operation
  • Long-handled locking pin locks and secures the drum from rotation during storage, transport, and fixed-extension use including mobile applications over rough terrain
  • Electroless nickel plated steel 90° full-flow NPT swivel inlet hardened swivel construction rated for 5,000 PSI service; greater pressure capability and corrosion resistance than the brass swivel on standard 1125 Series models
  • AFLAS swivel seals fluoroelastomer compound with superior chemical and heat resistance over Nitrile seals, suited to hydraulic fluid, petroleum, chemical, and steam service at elevated working pressures
  • Exclusive low-profile outlet riser and open drum slot design provides a non-crimping, flat smooth hose wrap around the drum
  • Heavy-duty CNC robotically spun and ribbed discs with rolled edges for greater strength, durability, hose protection, and operator safety
  • Sturdy one-piece, all CNC robotically welded 12-gauge steel A-frame base not bolted for superior reel structure; mounting pattern in base for wall, ceiling, floor, or vehicle-body installation
  • Permanently lubricated, self-aligning pillow block bearings for trouble-free, smooth drum rotation over extended service life
  • Adjustable tension brake prevents free-wheeling during hose deployment; long-lasting chip-resistant, rust-inhibiting CPC powder coat finish; 2-year manufacturer's limited warranty

Applications

  • Remote oilfield & well service locations field installations for chemical injection lines, well control fluid delivery, and high-pressure service at sites without reliable shop air or electrical supply for a motorized reel
  • Mobile high-pressure service vehicles trucks and trailers carrying 5,000 PSI capable hose reels to job sites where the absence of external power at the reel mounting point makes bevel geared crank operation the practical retraction method
  • Hydraulic test & pressure testing lower-cycle applications test bench and field pressure testing of hydraulic components at up to 5,000 PSI where retraction frequency is low enough that manual crank operation is practical and the simpler mechanism reduces service points
  • High-pressure water jetting & surface preparation field jetting operations at above 3,000 PSI where the reel mounts to a trailer or portable platform without available motorized retraction power
  • Industrial & plant installations power-optional locations fixed reel stations in facilities where running air or electrical to the reel mount point is impractical, the retraction cycle is infrequent, and the mechanical simplicity of a bevel geared crank is preferred over a motorized drive

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the HP1125-4-100-C (bevel geared crank) and the HP1125-4-100 (direct hand crank)?
A: Both are fully manual with no external power source, but they use different crank mechanisms. The base HP1125-4-100 uses a solid steel direct hand crank one handle rotation equals one drum rotation with no mechanical advantage. The HP1125-4-100-C uses a bevel geared crank, where angled gears change the rotation axis and provide a gear ratio that reduces the force required per turn when winding back a fully loaded 100-foot drum. For 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose, the bevel gear makes retraction noticeably easier and reduces operator fatigue over repeated cycles.

Q: What is the difference between the HP1125-4-100-C and the standard 1125-4-100-C?
A: Both use the same bevel geared crank mechanism on the same basic chassis. The difference is the working pressure rating and swivel specification. The HP1125-4-100-C is rated to 5,000 PSI with an electroless nickel plated steel swivel and AFLAS seals. The standard 1125-4-100-C is rated to 3,000 PSI with a machined brass swivel and Nitrile seals. For applications at or below 3,000 PSI, the standard 1125-4-100-C is the more economical choice; for applications requiring up to 5,000 PSI, the HP1125-4-100-C is the correct selection.

Q: Why choose the bevel geared crank over a motorized version at 5,000 PSI?
A: Motorized reels require a power source at the reel location compressed air (for Gast motor variants), 12V or 24V DC (for battery-powered electric variants), or AC power. At remote field locations, on mobile service trailers, or in installations where running a separate power supply to the reel is impractical or cost-prohibitive, the bevel geared crank provides reliable retraction with no infrastructure requirements. The tradeoff is operator effort on each retraction the bevel gear reduces this significantly over a direct crank, but motorized retraction remains hands-free. Choose the -C when power at the reel location is unavailable or undesirable; choose a motorized variant when automatic retraction justifies the added power supply infrastructure.

Q: Can the crank handle be removed while the hose is under pressure?
A: The handle is designed to be removable for convenience during hose deployment, but should not be removed while the hose carries pressurized fluid. At high working pressures up to 5,000 PSI on this reel removing the handle while the line is pressurized is a safety hazard. Always depressurize the hose line fully before removing the crank handle.

Q: Does the reel come with hose included?
A: No the HP1125-4-100-C ships less hose. The drum accepts 1/2" ID / 7/8" OD hose up to 100 feet. Select hose with a working pressure rating at or above your system pressure (up to 5,000 PSI) and rated for your media. At 5,000 PSI, use hose assemblies with fittings rated and crimped for high-pressure service hose and fitting selection at this pressure is a critical safety consideration.
