Description

When a production drilling cycle calls for controlled feed movement at a moderate spindle speed, the Ingersoll Rand 8265-25-1 provides a 0.75 HP (.56 kW) pneumatic motor, 2,500 RPM free speed, and single gear reduction. This Super Par-A-Matic Series Self-Feed Air Drill uses a 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) stroke and 1/2 in. (12.7 mm) chuck capacity for repeatable fixture-mounted drilling and automated secondary machining. The pneumatic feed system controls both forward and retract movement, making the tool suitable for production environments where consistent drilling cycles are required.

The Super Par-A-Matic design uses compressed air for spindle rotation and feed/control functions. A double-acting air piston provides controlled forward and retract strokes, while needle-valve controls adjust the stroke movement. An adjustment screw provides infinite stroke-length settings, allowing the drilling cycle to be adapted to the application. The built-in four-way valve supports manual and remote operation, while ball-bearing spindle support provides precision spindle guidance. A muffled exhaust helps reduce operating noise during pneumatic operation.

Applications:

  • Production drilling — performing repeatable holemaking cycles where controlled pneumatic feed and retract movement are required.
  • Fixture-mounted machining — integrating the drill into dedicated fixtures using the 1-1/2 in. stroke.
  • Automated secondary machining — incorporating controlled drilling cycles into suitable pneumatic production equipment.
  • Metalworking — drilling Type 304 stainless steel and SAE 1213 steel within the manufacturer's nominal capacities.
  • Aluminum machining — drilling 2024-T4 aluminum within the specified nominal capacity.
  • Production assembly — performing repeatable drilling operations where manual feed control would be impractical.

FAQs:

  • Q: What is the free speed of the 8265-25-1?
A: The 8265-25-1 has a 2,500 RPM free speed and uses single gear reduction.
  • Q: What does the “-1” configuration indicate?
A: The -1 configuration provides a 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) stroke. A 3 in. stroke configuration is also available within the 8265-25 model family.
  • Q: What is the chuck capacity?
A: The standard chuck capacity is 1/2 in. (12.7 mm). Chuck capacity should not be confused with the maximum drilling diameter for every material.
  • Q: What are the material-specific drilling capacities?
A: The nominal capacities are 3/32 in. in Type 304 stainless steel, 3/16 in. in SAE 1213 steel, 5/16 in. in 2024-T4 aluminum, and 7/16 in. in wood, medium or FRP.
  • Q: Can the 8265-25-1 be operated remotely?
A: Yes. The built-in four-way valve permits both manual and remote operation for suitable pneumatic control arrangements.
  • Q: What air pressure is specified for this drill?
A: The recommended operating pressure is 90 PSI (6.2 bar).
